The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) is designed to equip students with the skills ideal for a career in accounting and beyond. The program is structured to assist in the intellectual, social and personal development of the student as preparation for entrance to a range of specialist and generalist business professions.

For the completion of the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) students are required to complete a total of 24 units of study (300 credit points):
An Accounting professional major consisting of 18 units (225 credit points)
Six (6) additional units that can be undertaken either as a minor (4 units) and two electives (1 unit each), or as a specialised co-major for accounting students (6 units, see below under Co-Majors), or pathways credit

International Exchange is an academic program allowing you to study at a Swinburne Partner Institution for one or two terms during your degree. Swinburne’s Partner Institutions offer many relevant subjects as well as a secure base to explore a different culture. An accounting degree can lead to a wide range of positions in the vast, modern global market. You may find career opportunities in professional accounting practices and consultancies, fund management, general management, financial planning or in small businesses. Other roles include business analyst, auditor, fund accounting officer, taxation accountant and chief financial officer.
Graduates are eligible to apply for membership with CPA Australia (CPAA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA), the National Institute of Accountants (NIA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
