Programme Description
A recent report by a national publication called landscape architecture a “hot-track profession.” Not only is nearly every landscape architecture student assured of a job when he or she graduates, it is likely that several offers might be on the table.
The best landscape architects care deeply about the health and well-being of people and cultures. They want to ensure that development does not damage environmental and cultural integrity. They like to use products and materials that will have as few impacts on the environment as possible. Landscape architects take steps to forecast what the long-term impacts of a project will be.
There is a wide range of opportunities for landscape architects. Landscape architects work on a variety of projects such as the development of open spaces, waterfront improvement projects, recreation areas like golf courses, theme parks and public playgrounds, or such of preservation project like wildlife refuges, zoos, and transportation systems such as street and highway beautification. Increasingly, landscape architects work in environmental remediation, such as preservation and restoration of wetlands. Historic landscape preservation and restoration is another area where landscape architects increasingly play a role.
Lastly, landscape architects never stop learning. They seek constant improvement in knowledge, abilities, and skills to more effectively achieve sustainable development. As they learn, landscape architects actively engage in creating awareness of sustainable development among clients, government, academia, students, and the public at large.
Entry Requirements
- Pass STPM / A Levels with minimum 2 principals; OR
- Pass Foundation / Matriculation programme in related field; OR
- Pass Diploma in related field
- Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government
Students with a recognised Diploma in the relevant field will be given credit exemptions based on past results and portfolio review (where applicable).
