Programme Description

This Islamic Banking & Finance degree program, aims at enabling the candidate to deeply understand the Islamic Banking operating system and the concepts of Islamic Finance through participation in class discussions and activities. Market participant candidates are to be well-equipped with an excellent background about Islamic Finance and its innovative products. An introductory background on the related Islamic concepts is offered linking them to the emerging banking and financial issues.

In this programme, students will be:

  • Exposed the students with the basic concepts of Islamic Banking and Finance.
  • Guided to participants knowledge on Islamic Finance especially on Banking and Takaful.
  • Trained the job performance and professionalism of the participant.
  • Taught the students to effectively contribute to their organization’s business strategies and to gain competitive advantage.
  • Encourage the candidate to conduct researches in this field.
  • Exposed to an excellent understanding of Islamic Banking & Finance.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of religion and economic factors in Islamic finance and banking.
  • Define the concepts underlying Islamic finance and banking.
  • Define the concept of unpleasant practices and identify its components.
  • Discuss the legal maxims and main underlying Islamic principles related to Islamic financing instruments which are Shariah compliant.
  • Identify the structure of a modern Islamic financial system.

Entry Requirements

  • Pass STPM/A level with minimum 2 principals; OR
  • Pass Foundation/Pre-University/Matriculation in related field; OR
  • Pass Diploma in related field; OR
  • Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government

Students with a recognized Diploma in related field will be given advanced standing into the Degree programme.
