Entry Requirements

1. Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) / A Level or its equivalent with at least 2 principles or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or
2. UNISEL’S own DPPS qualification or
3. Ministry of Educaation/s Matriculation qualification or
4. STAM and
5. must have obtained a credit in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.

Candidates who are accepted with a Diploma in Preschool Education qualification from other recognized institutes may also petition for credit transfer of up to 30% of the 120 credit hours of the programme.

Overview

1. Broad-based knowledge in education especially early childhood education to enable the trainees to be proficient as early childhood minders as well imbibed with the knowledge and skills to run own ECE institution.
2. Mathematics, Science, Bahasa Melayu and other KSSR courses to prapare candidates for a career either in ECE or elementry educaation.
3. Students are required to attend supervised 3 months internship programme at elemtary schools to prapare them for the real world of teaching.
4. Students are also required to propose and write an academic exercise on a topic related to ECE.
5. Students with DPPS qualification from UNISEL are exempted about thirty credit hours provided they scored at least grade B in these subjects at the DPPS level

1. Describe the four functions of a teacher namely planning, organizing, teaching and evaluation.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of planning, organizing, teaching and evaluation plays in ECE institutes success
3. Be able to conduct a SWOT Analysis on his own personal attributes and/or his ECE institute
4. Develop and/or implement a plan to address results of the SWOT Analysis
5. Demonstrate the ability to work with and/or lead a diverse team toward goal accomplishment
6. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of attracting, developing and retaining a high quality workforce

Expected Salary

Graduates can expect to be paid around RM1800 if they work as a teacher on being appointed and around RM 2,300 when confirmed.

Graduates who work as a Teachnig Assistant in a university while completing their post graduate studies at a university can expect to get RM2300 and around RM 3000 if they garduate with a Masters Dgree as a starting salary

Graduates who venture to start their own ECE institute can obtained grant of RM10,000 from the Federal government during the second year of their operation. To do this they need capital outlay of about RM 50,000 to start an ECE centre.( See appendix). Many banks provide easy financial loan if graduates  can prepare and submit a convincing loan proposal paper detailing the financial needs as well as the financial prospect of repayment. A private centre can charge as much as RM300 per student a month or an income of about RM 14,000 a month for an enrolment of about 50 children.
